Eagle Vines Golf Club is the Napa Valley venue that most people do not know about yet, and honestly that is part of what makes it special. It sits at the southern gateway to Napa, where manicured golf greens weave between rows of actual producing vineyards. Johnny Miller helped design the course and it shows. Every hole, every view, every sight line feels intentional.
The Grand Pavilion is where the magic happens for weddings. It is an elegant open-air structure right by the 18th hole with twelve chandeliers hanging from draped white fabric. On one side, a clear removable wall opens to panoramic views of the golf course, the mountains, and the lake. On the other side, a custom rustic wooden wall anchors the space. It is 4,000 square feet of outdoor-but-covered perfection.
What I love about shooting here is the water. There is a lake adjacent to the pavilion and a 300-yard trickling waterfall that runs alongside it. When the light gets low and catches the water, the reflections add this whole extra layer to the photos. Most venues give you one good backdrop. Eagle Vines gives you five: pavilion, lake, waterfall, vineyard, and rolling hills.
The 14th hole is a hidden gem. It is an island green surrounded by flowers, a waterfall, and wildlife. Ducks, geese, the works. It sounds random but it is genuinely one of the most beautiful spots on the entire property for portraits.

Getting ready at the clubhouse with views of the course. I capture the quiet details and the building excitement: the dress, the rings, the first champagne toast, the nervous energy before everything starts.

We steal away to the island green for portraits while guests enjoy cocktails at the clubhouse patio. Then I document the reception setup: table details, florals, the pavilion dressed and ready.
As the sun drops, we hit the vineyard rows for classic wine country shots, then the lake for reflection portraits. Two completely different backdrops in 15 minutes.
The sky darkens and the chandeliers take over. Toasts, first dance, the dance floor opening up under warm glowing light with the night sky above. This is the scene people talk about long after the wedding.
Eagle Vines is oriented with the pavilion facing south/southwest, giving it beautiful afternoon and golden hour light. In summer, golden hour runs from about 7:00 to 7:45pm and the lake reflections are at their best. In winter, 4:15 to 5:00pm. The pavilion chandeliers start to glow against the fading sky right at dusk, which creates an incredible transition from natural light to ambient warmth. The mountains behind the course catch the last pink and orange light after the sun drops.
Large parking lot on site. The club is at 580 South Kelly Road in American Canyon, right off Highway 29. About 45 minutes from San Francisco, 15 minutes from downtown Napa. Easy access and no parking headaches even for larger events.
Noise levels must comply with local ordinance (typically 10pm). Outside catering is permitted with venue coordination. The pavilion is seasonal (best April through November, weather permitting). Maximum pavilion capacity is 250. Clubhouse hosts smaller events up to 125. All vendors need insurance on file.
The lake beside the pavilion catches the setting sun and turns into a mirror about 90 minutes before sunset. Time your ceremony to finish right before this window so we can grab portraits at the water with the reflections. It is a 2-minute walk from the pavilion.
It is a 10-minute walk from the pavilion, but the island green surrounded by flowers and the waterfall is unlike anything else at the venue. Plan for a quick portrait detour during cocktail hour. You will not regret it.

Being in a semi-open pavilion at the base of the hills means occasional breezes. Hair and veil plans should account for this. Lightweight decor on tables needs securing. But honestly, a little wind in the hair during portraits adds movement and life to the photos.
