Edna Valley = 15 min south of SLO, smaller, Burgundian (Pinot Noir + Chardonnay), Mediterranean estates. Paso Robles = 30 min north, larger region, Bordeaux + Rhône varieties, casual-luxe estates. For a wedding day, Edna Valley is closer + more intimate. For a 3-day weekend, Paso has more variety.
How does Hearst Castle work for weddings?+
Limited bookings. Only certain Lower Garden areas, max 120 guests. State Park permit ($1,000+) + private security + closing the public for your event. Books 18+ months out. The most prestigious Central Coast venue but logistically complex.
What about Pismo and Avila for the rehearsal dinner or beach session?+
Strong move. Pismo Cliffs + Avila Pier are both free public access. Sunset portraits (no permit for couple-only). Pismo Beach + Avila Beach Club are common rehearsal-dinner venues — casual, beachfront, $50–80 per person.
