Half Moon Bay is the closest cliffside coastal wedding to San Francisco. One hour from the city. No flights, no shuttle buses, no overnight required for guests.
It is also the foggiest place in California in summer. June through August your sunset is gone by 4 PM. September and October are the local secret — clearest skies, warmest water, fewest crowds.

The legendary big-wave surf break in winter, gentle beach in summer. No permit needed for couple-only ceremonies. Bluff overlook = the iconic frame.
1.3-mile coastal cliff path north of HMB. Free, no permit, dramatic Pacific views. Park at Pacifica side. Best at golden hour.
Free public access. Wildflower bluffs in spring. Tide pools at low tide. Underused — most HMB photographers skip this.
Mediterranean restaurant with cliff lawn for private ceremonies. $8–15K. Best for 30–80 guests. Walking distance to HMB Plaza.
Charming oceanfront B&B. Beach ceremony + on-property reception. $10–18K. Books 9 months out.

Marine-layer fog peaks. Mornings socked-in until 11 AM. Late-afternoon clears 4–6 PM, then fogs again at 7 PM. Sunset is unreliable.
