Redwood-canopy ceremony with the Big Sur River audible from the aisle. Best at 5pm — golden light streams through the canopy. 60-guest cap.

Big Sur River bend

5-min walk from the lodge — boulder + river-rapid backdrop for portraits. Bring waterproof shoes for the bride if she wants the river-stone shot.

The Cabins (Petite + Adobe)

On-property lodging for the wedding party. Getting-ready coverage in the cabins is some of the best portrait light on the property.

The Restaurant + bonfire pit

Reception under the redwoods with strung lights + bonfire after dinner. The restaurant fits 50 to 60 seated. Late-night bonfire is the most-requested moment.

Pfeiffer Beach (10-min drive)

Sunset portrait drive — purple-sand beach + Keyhole Rock. Schedule day-after session here for editorial shots without ceremony pressure.

Glen Oaks Big Sur — how big can the wedding be?+
Maximum capacity is around 60 guests. The lodge isn't built for larger weddings — that's why couples pick it. If you have 80+ guests, look at Ventana Big Sur or Post Ranch Inn instead.
Best month?+
May, June, September, October. June + Sept have lower fog but warmer temps. Skip July to August — Big Sur traffic is brutal + smoke season starts. Avoid Dec to March (rain + Highway 1 closures).
Cost?+
AGV starts at $6,500 for Photo + Film at this tier. Multi-day Big Sur weddings (welcome dinner + ceremony + brunch + day-after) typically $9,500 to $11,500.
How early should we book?+
Glen Oaks Saturdays May to October: 12 to 14 months out. Friday + Sunday: 6 to 9 months. Off-season: 4 to 6 months.
Highway 1 closure risk?+
Real risk Dec to March. Couples who book May to October almost never hit closures. Always have a Plan B route via 101 → King City → G16 if 1 closes.
