Six real spots, a real timeline, the permits, the weather, the lodgings. From a photographer who has been on this coast 30+ times and knows what fails.
Big Sur is the most photographed stretch of coastline in California. It is also where most elopements go wrong.
The road closes. The fog hides the ocean. Bixby Bridge is full of tourists at sunset. McWay requires a permit nobody filed. Pfeiffer Beach gates close 30 minutes before the light is right.
None of that has to happen. With the right spot, the right hour, and a backup plan filed two weeks out, Big Sur is unbeatable.
